ASSIST Education Expands into Malaysia with Flex School Model
Kuala Lumpur K-12 school leverages the education management system with an embedded online school to provide world-class education experience for students in an open environment
RENO, NV, April 9, 2019 — ASSIST Education announced that it is partnering with Templer Park International School in Malaysia. Together, they will implement a pre-K-12 blended learning concept school to deliver a world-class education to students on the other side of the globe through the ASSIST platform. Malaysia has a very high rate of literacy, but the new private school in Kuala Lumpur was looking for ways to further expand the depth and breadth of their curriculum and add a US high school diploma and CTE programs for their high school students. This expansion will improve quality of education to drive and inspire innovation in tomorrow’s workforce in Malaysia, which also sets them apart from other private schools in Kuala Lumpur. The team at ASSIST showed Templer Park school leaders their successful implementation of this type of programing in other countries. The platform provides real solutions by making the best digital content available to students in a “blended learning” environment, while seamlessly “blending in” with the existing school requirements or needs of the school and country.
The ASSIST platform provides a fully-integrated student data management system (SIS), student learning management (LMS) and curriculum management (CMS) system for schools. By leveraging this inexpensive, highly-functional and integrated platform, the schools are able to retain a larger portion of their cash flow and have more control over individualized instruction with measurable learning outcomes.
Under construction and on track to open this fall, the new private school is located inside beautiful Templer’s Park Forest Reserve. It will offer 1,000 diverse students a dream opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the nature of their country, while gaining the best education by adopting a different way of teaching with a flex school model. Through Internet connections and mobile laptops and devices, students can move between indoors and out, or take cover underneath wired palm-roofed shelters, surrounded by greenery, trees, waterfalls and streams. Inside three-walled classrooms, teachers can present with Smartboards. As part of the school curriculum, students also participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking and scouting in the jungle, caring for the animals in the on campus petting zoo, riding the jungle zip lines and mastering the campus ropes course.
The English-speaking school plans to provide US curriculum general education courses to all grades through the embedded school and enable students to earn a United States high school diploma program using ASSIST Integrated Education Management System. Students will receive a well-rounded program that captures the country’s uniqueness. ASSIST is currently training teachers and staff together for the launch through in-person and online sessions. And after the successful launch this fall, Templer Park will serve as the model school for the nation with plans to expand across all 30 provinces.
Templer Park International School is implementing the streamlined system as the heart of their vision to achieve their goals. Through ASSIST, the school will be able to access an embedded K-12 school, Advantages School International (ASI), which is fully accredited for grades K-12. The online content allowed the academy to add new online educational opportunities to their curriculum including U.S. High School Diplomas. ASI is recognized world-wide and is fully accredited by AdvancEd, NCA, and CASI / SACS CASI.
“We had a clear vision to provide students with access to the best education by leveraging technology,” said the Academic Director at Templer Park International School. “The government here wants to make Malaysia a place of educational excellence and granted us 60 years of land use at Templer Park to support our pilot project. After seeing the power of ASSIST, we knew that they are the expert global implementers with exactly the modern system that we have been looking for to reach our goals. Our international students in Malaysia are going to learn everything in English through a high-quality accredited US education program, while experiencing the most amazing blended learning environment, all while being immersed in a forest!”
With the implementation of ASSIST, the school will leverage not only streamlined management tools, but also a fully-accredited US school. With English as the second most popular language in Malaysia and some curriculum requirements for some subjects to be taught in English, ASSIST’s comprehensive English Language content for all grades is desirable.
“Templer Park International School is using the ASSIST ecosystem efficiently to create a pilot model school that can be replicated throughout the country of Malaysia, to offer students unique educational solutions, in an outdoor environment is exciting,” said Michael Spencer, CEO of ASSIST Education. “Having helped schools in other countries with ASSIST school models, I am confident in their vision. We are working closely with them to make the correct, most cost-effective choices upfront as the school is being shaped and new infrastructure and technologies are added. We had some strong recent successes implementing our platform and helping schools in Mexico and Brazil grow and expand their offerings.”
ASSIST Education provides superior client support and in-country support to ensure all schools are successful. Very recently, ASSIST helped international schools in Brazil and Mexico increase enrollment, grow their businesses and improve student achievement.
Since implementing the ASSIST platform last year, the Colégio Magister school in Sao Paolo, Brazil, achieved a 45-percent improvement in overall students’ English reading, writing and speaking skills through updated English Language curriculum. The school, which provides general education courses to all grades, English Language Learning (ELL) and a United States high school diploma, was also able to expand its student enrollment by 35 percent in every grade. Also, more efficient classroom management allowed for a 25 percent increase in available student and teacher 1:1 interaction. School management was 100 percent satisfied in the migration from its previous pieced-together solution to ASSIST Integrated Education Management System.
DiME, a private flex school using the ASSIST Integrated Education Management System for K-12 schools, near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is leading the way internationally for other flex model schools. By implementing the ASSIST Ecosystem in a blended learning environment, the DiME Desarrollo en Métodos de Enseñanza flex academy was a first internationally last fall in the way it successfully streamlined its procedures, allowing the company to pursue aggressive growth goals, including the expansion of four additional flex academies throughout the region. Once the flex academy had the ASSIST ecosystem up and running, they were able to save enough time and money to expand their student population by 35 percent almost immediately. Serving students in middle and high school, this flex school leverages technology and the internet in a traditional learning environment. It uses a form of blended learning with a model similar to a flipped classroom. The fully integrated ASSIST ecosystem, was designed by educators as a new approach in meeting the needs of education institutions with a single platform.
