Allison Dampier | Chief Operating Officer

Allison is one of the founders and original designers of ASSIST. She has a broad educational background and has more than a decade of teaching experience at the primary, secondary and university level, in both online and “brick and mortar” settings. She also has experience in online curriculum development for the National University Teaching Department.

Allison has a Master of Education from University of LaVerne and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication. She is certified as a Reading and Language Arts specialist, she has Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials and also holds a CLAD certificate which emphasizes teaching in multicultural environments.

At ASSIST, her responsibilities include overseeing staff and company management. Allison coordinates and maintains all training programs for both domestic and international partnerships and manages the technical and legal subjects related to ASSIST.

Michael Spencer | CEO and Co-Founder

Michael is CEO/Co-Founder of ASSIST L.L.C. and Managing Partner at Global Expansion Strategies. He is the former Senior Director of International Business at K12 and prior Senior Vice President of The American Education Corporation.

An education and technology industry veteran, he is the former president and founder of One2OneMate, Vice President/Co-Founder of QuickPAD Technology Corporation, Vice President/Co-Founder of H45 Technology, and several other Silicon Valley startups, all of which have received multiple awards for innovation and product development.

His expertise spans from advocating for one-to-one, mobile and blended learning environments where tailored tools providing individualized education are key to student performance and achievement, to the international front where he has worked with European, Latin American, African and Asian governments and school systems to bring about 21st-century educational reforms.

Michael is fluent in Spanish, he has traveled extensively and enjoys the entrepreneurial side of business. He is a regular columnist for EdTech Digest where he writes the Smarter Schools column.

Pam Dion | Co-Founder & EVP Business Development

Pam Dion is one of the original founders of ASSIST. Her teaching background includes both the traditional face-to-face classroom setting and online formats. Her grade level instruction spans from the primary grades into post-secondary and even master’s level teacher-credentialing programs.

She has vast experience in the design, development, and management of a fully accredited online school, as well as in the development and management of Title 1 after-school care programs for public schools.

Pam holds a Master of Education from University of LaVerne and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Technology. She is certified as a Reading and Language Arts specialist, she has Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials and also holds a CLAD certificate which emphasizes teaching in multicultural environments.

At ASSIST, Pam’s chief responsibilities include the development and support of our international relationships with qualified educational institutions, programs and resellers. She also works with her team in the development, management and large-scale logistics planning of ASSIST, our cloud-based student information system, learning management system, curriculum integration and partner school administration.

She works with all of ASSIST’s third-party vendors in all areas of marketing, distribution sales, academic and curriculum integration, legal and technical aspects related to the growth of ASSIST and the individual components of the program.

Andy Bui | Chief Technology Officer

Andy is an executive partner with ASSIST, joining the team in 2011. He comes to ASSIST as an international business strategist and IT professional with 30 years of experience.

Andy has been the co-founder and founder of eight U.S. and global companies. Recognized as a pioneer in IT outsourcing services in Vietnam, Andy designed and developed one of the first online learning systems in the United States. Today, this system currently supports over 150 major financial services firms in North America and Europe.

Since partnering with Advantages School International, Andy is fulfilling his dream of building a learning platform for K-12 students worldwide.

Sandy Gamba | EVP of Academics

Sandy is the Chief Academic Officer and one of the founders and original designers of ASSIST. She has more than 14 years of experience in post-secondary education with various universities and has held executive level positions. She has served as Dean of Enrollment Management and traveled internationally for top tier universities. She has legislated for equal access for college opportunities and has been instrumental in increasing financial assistance to students domestically.

Sandy has served as a multi-term President of the College Admission Counselors Association and served as a board member of the Hispanic Association of Nevada Educators. She is bilingual and has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University. She launched the first online MBA program for a medium size university in Colorado and grew that program substantially over the course of two years.

Sandy’s primary responsibilities focus on expanding ASSIST’s curriculum choices and empowering communication between academic partners and student records management units. Her innovation and passion towards ASSIST is about making a difference for students by integrating technology into education.

Mariam Purcell
 | Product Manager

Mariam has worked as a classroom teacher and a high school counselor in the traditional classroom setting, besides having worked for over 10 years within online teaching environments.

She has a Master of Science in Educational Counseling and possesses a Pupil Public Service Credential, Single Subject Credentials K-12 for Physical Education and Health Science, a Supplementary Credential 7-12 for Social Science, as well as a Teaching Credential issued in 2001.

Mariam lends her talents to the ASSIST team as department head and staff supervisor for many of our school partnerships. She has been instrumental in the development of ASSIST features for district level, teacher and student support.

Additionally, Mariam has taken a title position with our international department providing training and support to our international clients. She works closely with our development team in the continuous design and expansion of ASSIST’s supportive features.

Yvonne Ruwe | Sales Manager

Yvonne is the Channel Sales Manager for ASSIST, focusing primarily on the United States market. She has spent her career in the technology industry. With almost 20 years of experience working with educational technology companies, she has worked with a range of companies from large industry leaders to several startups. She is especially passionate about the power and efficacy of technology in K-12 classrooms.

She is the former Director of Sales and Marketing for School Software Group, Director of Regional Sales for AutoSkill International, and Area Vice President of Sales and Marketing for American Education Corporation. Her experience includes RTI processes and policies, literacy intervention, learning management systems, and curriculum management systems.

Currently at ASSIST Education, Yvonne is building the US sales team, and helping them to market and present ASSIST to schools and districts across the country.  Ms. Ruwe received her Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

James Wilson | Sales Executive

James joins ASSIST Education with fifteen years of experience in the private high school, university, and nonprofit technology and consulting sectors. His leadership experience includes working with start-ups and turnarounds, fundraising for and managing multi-million-dollar budgets to advance direct service to students and faculty development. James has written creative curricula and other core content for both

online and in-classroom instruction, taught students from eighth grade to early college and gap year programming, and he has advised pupils, parents, public school districts and prestigious private schools regarding the education of students during critical periods in their personal formation.

Jen Tynan | Sales Executive

Jen Tynan joins ASSIST Education as a military spouse of over 20 years with fifteen years of experience in elementary education. Through her family’s numerous moves, Jen juggled the transferring of her own education along with her children’s. Her frequent relocations and personal experience provides a unique perspective and deep understanding of the nontraditional student and the importance of online learning. 

Jen has 15 years of classroom experience in teaching grade levels Kindergarten through sixth grade.  Her leadership experience includes the implementation and support of multiple military spouse organizations, sitting on the local high school athletic board of trustees as President, and is the Past-President of Marine Aviation Spouses for the greater Washington DC area.

Jen brings valuable experience to ASSIST Education with her persistence and passion for student advocacy in a non-traditional academic environment.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Family Studies from the University of South Carolina. Her position with ASSIST Education gives Jen the opportunity to support fellow nontraditional students with a more personal approach to learning.

David Benoit | COO

Dave Benoit is an education business leader with a track record as an innovator, capable of launching new companies and fixing underperformers.

He has over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, operations and senior management. Dave’s successful ventures include Lightspan(IPO-2000), Co-nect (sold to Pearson in ‘05), Connections Academy(sold to Pearson in ‘11), Middlebury Interactive Languages (sold to K12 in 2016, won award for excellence at Serious Play Conference in 2011), and ScholarCentric (sold to Advance Path in 2015),.

He also received the EdNet Rookie of the Year Award as best new company and product (Waking Minds, Writing) in the K-12 market for CDI America, an English language company he launched in 2004.

More recently, Dave led global business development for Stratasys, one of the largest 3D printing companies in the world. In this role, he has developed strategic partnerships with Dell, Learning Blade, STEMconnector, Job for America’s Graduates and Jason Learning.

In 207-18, Dave has been a strategic advisor to Teachstone and Learn Platform, two early stage education companies. He has also been helping the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to develop a plan and build a capability to distribute an array of products and services to school districts in the US and around the world.

Dave is married with three sons, mentors college football players for his alma mater (Northwestern – ’86), has served on several boards and advises a number of companies in the education market.

FindaBetterU- Brady Norvall

Brady Norvall is the Founder and C.E.O. of FindaBetterU™, an education life coaching firm with clients across the U.S., Central and South America, and Europe.

Norvall has served as a resource for the Young President’s Organization (YPO) and consults with corporate partners including banks and executive coaching firms.

Norvall mentors teenagers and helps families navigate the processes of education and goal-setting.

He empowers students with the right information and a healthy sense of friendship so that they can become their best selves.

He speaks on higher education, the transitions families undertake with adolescents, how to create positive communication around the process of education and, specifically, college planning, including the influence of expectation and pop culture in the way we approach the concepts of success and happiness.

Ismail Khan – CFO

Ismail Khan has more than 25 years in leadership roles specializing in finance and administration, most recently as CFO of Middlebury Interactive Languages, LLC, a partnership between a Middlebury College and K12, Inc. As a member of the senior management team, Ismail helped drive a threefold increase in revenue and profits and implemented an organic strategy for organizational growth. Ismail also worked at Pearson Education, the world’s largest publisher, in a series of finance roles with increasing responsibility.  

 He is adept at forming and leading startup companies and has managed the functional areas of Finance, Human Resources, Technology Support and Customer Service. Ismail is a firm believer in a team-based approach, where individual strengths and competencies come together in collaboration for success.

Ismail majored in finance at Loyola University Chicago and resides in the Chicago area with his wife and college-bound son.

Ali Beauchamp – Senior Sales Account Executive
Ali Beauchamp has been in the EdTech industry for well over a decade. She started out in product development and client support, but soon realized her passion for developing partnerships with school districts. Here, she could see first hand the impact her efforts had on students’ learning. Ali has managed strategic partnerships for some of the leading organizations in K-12 technology. She has worked with schools across the nation, specializing in unique virtual and blended learning implementations. Ali has experience with all types of educational organizations, ranging from large urban school districts to small town juvenile justice centers. Ali joins ASSIST with a passion for transforming education, and finding one-of-a-kind solutions to support every learner.

Ali lives just outside the Oklahoma City metro area with her husband, David. She volunteers with the American Red Cross on the disaster response team and the Oklahoma Medical Reserves as a community health volunteer. Her free time is spent visiting students at local school districts with her therapy dog, Kona.
